The BENTLY 3500/22M is a Transient Data Interface (TDI) module developed by Bently Nevada, primarily designed for machinery condition monitoring and protection systems in industrial environments. It serves as a critical bridge between the 3500 Series monitoring system and host software, enabling efficient collection, transmission, and analysis of both steady-state and transient machinery data. Below is its comprehensive detailed information:

1. Functional Features

(1) Data Collection

  • Interacts with M-Series monitors in the 3500 system (e.g., 3500/40M, 3500/42M) to continuously collect steady-state data and transient dynamic (waveform) data, then transmits the data to host software via an Ethernet link.
  • Beyond traditional static data collection, it can record dynamic, high-resolution transient data using an optional channel enable board—critical for capturing short-duration anomalies (e.g., startup/shutdown vibration spikes, impact shocks).

(2) Keyphasor Input

  • Supports up to four Keyphasor signals from the 3500 system, and accommodates speed inputs with multiple events per revolution, with a maximum input frequency of 20 kHz. This ensures precise synchronization of transient data with rotor position, enabling phase-aligned analysis (e.g., shaft orbit plotting).

(3) Data Acquisition Modes

  • Startup/Shutdown Data Acquisition: Collects data at pre-programmed speed and time intervals. The speed intervals for acceleration and deceleration can be independently configured. When the module detects that the machine speed falls within one of two programmable windows, it automatically starts collecting transient data.
  • Alarm-Triggered Data Acquisition: Triggers targeted data collection upon alarm events. For example:
    • Collects 2.5 minutes of waveform data at 10-second intervals before an alarm occurs.
    • Collects 1 minute of waveform data at 10-second intervals after an alarm occurs.This provides complete context for analyzing the root cause of alarms.
