Triconex 8111 expansion chassis
The Triconex 8111 is an expansion chassis in the Triconex product series. Below is its detailed information:
1. Function & Purpose
The Triconex 8111 enables the integration of additional I/O (Input/Output) and communication modules into the system, serving to expand the input/output and communication capabilities of the Triconex system. It is typically used when the I/O or communication capacity of the main chassis is insufficient to meet on-site application requirements.
2. Structural Composition
Power Modules: The expansion chassis includes two power modules, which provide stable power supply for the I/O modules and communication modules installed in the chassis, ensuring reliable operation of all components.
Logic Slots: It is equipped with eight logic slots dedicated to accommodating I/O modules and communication modules. Note that communication modules can only be installed in Expansion Chassis 2 (as per Triconex system configuration rules).
3. I/O Bus Ports
Each Triconex chassis (including the 8111 expansion chassis) features two sets of triple RS-485 I/O bus ports. These ports allow the I/O bus to extend from the main chassis to other Triconex chassis in the system. Specifically, the I/O ports are divided into three pairs, forming a triple expansion of the Tricon controller’s I/O bus—this design aligns with the system’s fault-tolerant architecture and ensures signal transmission reliability.
4. Communication Speed
The communication speed of the Triconex 8111 is 375 kilobits per second (kbps), which is identical to the speed of the internal controller I/O bus. This consistency ensures that the three control channels of the Triconex system can be extended to the expansion chassis both physically and logically without sacrificing performance—critical for maintaining real-time control in large-scale systems.
5. Operating Conditions
When using the Triconex 8111 expansion chassis, the total length of the I/O bus cable from the main chassis to the expansion chassis must not exceed 100 feet (approximately 30 meters). Exceeding this length may lead to signal attenuation, interference, or transmission delays, which could affect the normal operation of the system.

The company has multiple main brands, and if you have other brand requirements, you can also send them to customer service for inquiry.
